Class Level 2 (In-Person)

Machine overview. Description of the major components and their purpose. leveling the machine (Introduce the concept of level calibration, placement, and use). Ballscrew removal/replacement and how to set the machine’s reference positions. ATC alignments/adjustments. How to exchange a magazine pocket, how to remove and install the ATC swing arm, how to set the tool change position (2nd reference), how to set spindle orientation, and how to recover the tool changer. Control functions/diagnostics. Go over the electronic hardware, I/O system, Trace function, and how to use the PLC for troubleshooting.

This is a Machining Center Class (MC)

This is a 5 day class, in person @ our CTC

Day 1 = 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. (NO LUNCH)

SMX Multi-Tasking (3-Day) Course w/Siemens Control (3-Day) Course; (2) DAYS w/DN, and (1) Day w/Siemens direct (One location)

Course Overview:

This 3-Day course provides an in-depth study of Multi-Tasking Machining. The course covers ATC function, B-Axis programming, B-Axis special cycles, programming shortcuts, Two path control, Cross path machining, program format, Sub-spindle usage, Live Tools, Y-Axis, sub programming, Sync codes.

Programming Manual – Multi-Tasking Turning Center (SMX/MX Series)

Materials to Bring:

A notebook or pad, pens, pencils and a calculator are recommended. Laptops with CAM software are optional and recommended.

Prerequisite:

Advanced Turning and Milling Course or a minimum of 3 years’ experience with Multi-Axis Machines.

Details:

Attendance for all days is MANDATORY for certificate award.

Lunch is provided free of charge each day.

Classes start at 9:00 AM each day and end at 4:00 PM.

This course is free of charge at Chicago Tech Center

On-Site: HMC Rotary Table Rebuild

Class Level 3 (In-Person)

Disassemble the index table, go over the Curvic coupling structure and how it differs from the clamping plate. Adjust the backlash in the gears and go over the hydraulic manifold. Disassemble the full rotary table. Go over the concept of the hydraulic clamp on how to measure/set the proper gap for operation. Go over checking the backlash on the system and how to reinstall all the components.

5-Axis Machine with SIEMENS Control

This 3-day class will cover 5-Axis programming and operation with the SIEMENS control.

Course Overview

Day 1 will start in the classroom and cover the basics.

Day 2 will explore 3+2 programming, TWP.

Day 3 will cover simultaneous 5-Axis for Siemens machines, TCPC.

Prerequisite Requirements:

Class Level 4 (In Person)

Machine overview. Description of the major components and their purpose. leveling the machine (Introduce the concept of level calibration, placement, and use). Machine Alignments: (Main/Sub Spindle, B-Axis, and lower Turret). How to set the reference positions. ATC alignments/adjustments. How to exchange a magazine pocket, how to remove and install the ATC swing arm, how to set the tool change position (2nd reference), how to set spindle orientation, and how to recover the tool changer. Rebuild the B-Axis RGC unit. Disassemble and reassemble this unit. Check the rotational gap, adjust the cross roller bearing run-out.

On-Site: Comprehensive Mechanical + Electrical

Class Level 1 (In-Person)

This program is a combination of both comprehensive mechanical and comprehensive electrical trainings. The first two days will cover the mechanical area, followed by the third day, during which the instructor will go over the electrical training material. The main topics covered during the first two days will cover the following: how to calibrate levels, set levels on the machine, read moving levels, check square, test bar, and all geometry in the blue book. Review the information covered in the Manuals that are provided with the machine. Learn different hydraulics symbols, show different types of service tools, etc. Get hand on experience on how to reset the machine’s home position and perform ATC alignment, Spindle Orientation, and ATC Recovery.

On the last day of this training program, students will learn about the electrical layout of the machine. Go over detailed information on the hardware (E-Box, OP-Box, NC unit, power, and control line) and the software (how Ladder, timer, counter, keep Relay, and data table are used). Learn the proper use of Electrical Schematics. Learn how to check the status of the electric devices (Sensors, Relays, Switches, and Solenoid Valves) and perform a sample alarm diagnosis. Discuss how to diagnose alarms in Ladder, how to upload and download Ladder and how to perform All Data Backup.
